Glacier Express Chocolate Fondue

Inspired by Switzerland's famed Glacier Express, this dessert offers a melting pot of Swiss chocolates, perfect for dipping with fruits and marshmallows, mirroring the melting snow along the Alpine journey.

Ingredients

  • Various Swiss chocolates (dark, milk, and white), broken into pieces (approximately 300g total)
  • 250 ml heavy cream
  • 30 grams sugar (optional)
  • A pinch of salt
  • Assorted fruits for dipping (strawberries, banana slices, apple chunks, etc.)
  • Marshmallows
  • Pieces of cake or biscuits

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fondue:

    • In a medium saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Do not boil.
    • Reduce the heat to low and gradually add the chocolate pieces, stirring constantly until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Add sugar and a pinch of salt to taste.
  2. Transfer to Fondue Pot:

    • Carefully pour the chocolate mixture into a fondue pot. Keep the fondue warm on a low setting, if your pot has a flame or electric heat source.
  3. Prepare Dipping Ingredients:

    • While the chocolate melts, prepare your dipping ingredients. Arrange the fruits, marshmallows, and pieces of cake or biscuits on a platter or in individual bowls.
  4. Enjoy:

    • Use fondue forks or skewers to dip the fruits, marshmallows, and cake pieces into the warm chocolate. Enjoy the delicious warmth and variety of flavors, reminiscent of a journey through the snowy Alps aboard the Glacier Express.

Enjoy this Glacier Express Chocolate Fondue as a sweet conclusion to a meal, or as a cozy treat to share with friends and family, celebrating the spirit of Alpine adventure.
