From SRCCON discussion:

We were talking about the mobile security settings module and it's not always clear why an app needs access to a specific setting.

  • Are there ways of finding out why an app needs access to the microphone/camera/photos/location/etc.?
  • Are there easy ways of seeing what breaks when access is turned off?
  • Can we describe some common (or uncommon?) ways apps might use permissions, to give people an idea of why they might choose to enable/disable them?
