Should there be a whitepaper / technical paper (JOSS?) to cite to give credit to TrajAn?

Yes. We have been thinking about this, but maybe felt that there wasn't enough meat on the bones yet. A JOSS paper is probably a good idea if we want something fast, it takes less time than regular ones. We have most of the requirements ready: examples, documentation, versioning, packaging.

That would be good :) . I think it is useful at some point to have such a a purely technical paper, to i) formalize this project, ii) give it some weight so others may be inspired to join, iii) do some form of bookkeeping of who and how much this is used through citation counts, iv) get credits to the key devs of the project :) .

  • If my contributions are too "superficial" to be a co-author of a technical paper, this is perfectly acceptable and fine to me (you decide, no pressure :) ),
  • if you think I contributed enough to qualify, I will be happy to help if / when you start working with this :) .

You should absolutely be a co-author!
