Libre 2 serial numbers can be misrepresented

Someone said to me that UK/EU Libre 2 serial numbers start with a 3. Right now my sensor is reported by xDrip+ classic status page as ABBOTT0MH00.... whereas when it was working via the patched app it was reported there as ABBOTT3MH00....

I have seen at least one post where the status page didn't match the sensor box (someone posted a screenshot and a photo together).

Is this a bug ? If the 3 does indicate a Libre 2 (?) it could be a useful diagnostic as sometimes the wrong type is issued.

I can edit the title to "serial numbers are misrepresented" if this would be preferable.

The issue is not resolved. I had observed some correct reporting of 3MH serial numbers but my last sensor misreported as 0MH when it should have been 3.

It is possible the issue was fixed for the C5 sensor type in May revisions to OOP2 but it persists for "standard" L2 sensors.

It's just that usually, we have a discussion where we talk about something until it may become clear that we need to fix something, we can fix it in xDrip, and there are developers who believe there is no conflict between fixing it and the operation logic.
I cannot find the discussions where this judgement was made.

I occasionally have to go over issues and get updates to make sure we don't have issues that should be closed and if we do, close them.

If we have 20 open issues and a new one is opened, the developers can see that something needs their attention.
If we have hundreds of open issues and new one opens, no one may have a clue that anything needs their attention.

What are the misrepresented devices? In what way exactly?
Is the device operational in xDrip? Where is the serial number shown? Is it really important what serial number is shown? I mean as long as there are readings, why does the serial number matter?

Libre 1 has serial number starting 0. Libre 2 starts with 3. It is a useful diagnostic aid to know the sensor type.If a user asks for help for example.

Also the new subtype of Libre 2+ has serial number starting 312 I have no idea what xDrip does with that. When it appeared and didn't work we didn't know because it appeared as 0MH on status screen - it wasn't recognised so was treated as if a Libre 1 but this issue means the serial number would be wrong anyway.

I think it's on the classic status screen. If not then the Bluetooth status

I don't know why xDrip should show a serial number if the user has not entered it.
If the user needs to know what the serial number is, they can see it on the box, right?
Wouldn't be sufficient for xDrip to show the type of sensor on the classic status page? Isn't that all you need to know when helping someone?

As you may know very well. I am not a Libre user. I am doing what I can to keep xDrip going with respect to Libre. I don't have all the facts about what is good to have and what is critically needed and what may make xDrip a violator! So, I prefer to remove this serial number just to be safe we are not doing anything we shouldn't be doing. For all I know the reason it was never addressed is that we shouldn't show it.

I have some sympathy with the idea that if it's wrong we should just remove it

If xDrip thinks it is connecting to 0MH123456 when the user is trying to use 3MH254681 it may help the user to know there's a mismatch in the same way this arises with Dexcom sensors.

The only difference is the user types in a Dex code but a Libre gets it by NFC scan.
