The original mask is located in GFDL and require mask export from GFDL folks. Currently, we decided to use the cold pool index mask generated solely from the GLORYS bottom temperature (1993-2022) using the same criteria from the code in CEFI-regional_MOM6. Since the mask can be switch from one to another. Current approach is to make a mask from only GLORYS and replace the mask file when it become available. The module should be designed to handle the mask file changes.

  • create mask from GLORYS data
  • the module only need to read in the mask data for CPI calculation
  • the mask replace by the GFDL mask
