Summary

DEIJ Seminar Series is typically in the Spring time of a calendar year, but its planning should begin in the Winter to ensure all speakers are ready in a timely manner and schedules are set. There is a list of guided instructions to follow by prior DEIJ team members. There is a current 2025 DEIJ Seminar Series Folder created in the drive.

Starting Tasks

• Review list of Suggested Speakers and determine if there are any additions or removals necessary
• Select a list of about 5 Suggested Speakers and as a group determine who are the best

1/23 Meeting

• We have 3 speakers and 3 back-up speakers to reach out to (Google Sheet). Green is speakers to reach out to. Yellow is second wave
• Angie, Erica, and Justin will each reach out to one by Monday January 27th
• Follow up emails on February 3rd, then can reach out to back up speakers February 7th
• Angie will reach out to Chelsea Wormington for help on outreach
• Justin will ask Michelle about $250 honorarium for speakers
• Still aiming for March - June, but March may be too soon for some speakers
• Theme we're sharing with speakers: "Leveraging AI and environmental data synthesis for a more just and equitable future."

• Angie reached out to Victoria Nguyen on Monday 1/27 with an invitation to be a speaker for the DEIJ Seminar Series
• Expected to meet with Chelsea Wormington from UCSB on Feb 2/6 with some DEIJ Committee members
