In markdown a correct syntax for a link without text is the angle brackets syntax:
<www.google.de>
The standard VS code markdown viewer has no problem rendering these links. Interestingly, GitHub does not seem to support this syntax: <www.google.de>

For general compatibility, I'd like to see this syntax supported.
