tablets do not retain their state after re-entering the world or even if the player has simply moved to another dimension!
this is inconvenient and very annoying.
moreover, the tablets turn off when I put my computer into hibernation mode without exiting the game.
is there a technical reason why tablets behave this way?

I'm presuming those are bugs, as IME the tablets do keep their state.

Not a developer for this project but there are some notes about state on the wiki. It specifically mentions moving between worlds and leaving/re-entering the game. This would appear to be the intended functionality.

Unlike computers, tablets do not persist across the player holding leaving and re-entering the game. They also do not persist across the player holding the tablet changing dimensions (e.g. going to the nether or back).
