Where is the issue with that?

takes a long time, maybe fixing eapi 7 and 8 and letting it generate metadata will speed it up

bash has a lot of forward and reverse dependencies, the step number looks sane. Remember that paludis has to check each such dependency to create a solution set.

There's already #53 reporting a performance regression, so this sounds like a duplicate.
