Command-Line Interface (CLI)

Example Brief

This example demonstrates how the ADF periph_console controls the esp_audio API and other system APIs.

Familiarization with commands when using the command-line interface (CLI) can greatly speed up the debug analysis and feature test of ADF projects.

Environment Setup

Hardware Required

This example runs on the boards that are marked with a green checkbox in the table. Please remember to select the board in menuconfig as discussed in Section Configuration below.

Build and Flash

Default IDF Branch

This example supports IDF release/v3.3 and later branches. By default, it runs on ADF's built-in branch $ADF_PATH/esp-idf.

Configuration

Prepare a microSD card and some audio files in AMR, FLAC, OGG, OPUS, MP3, WAV, AAC, TS, M4A and other formats, and name them test.amr, test.flac, test.ogg, test.opus, test.mp3, test.wav, test.aac, test.ts, and test.m4a. Then, copy them to the card, and insert the card to the development board.

The default board for this example is ESP32-Lyrat V4.3, if you need to run this example on other development boards, select the board in menuconfig, such as ESP32-Lyrat-Mini V1.1.

If you need to modify the audio file name, please enable FatFs long file name support.

Build and Flash

Build the project and flash it to the board, then run monitor tool to view serial output (replace PORT with your board's serial port name):

idf.py -p PORT flash monitor

To exit the serial monitor, type Ctrl-].

Troubleshooting

  • To run the stat command, please go to menuconfig > Component Config > FreeRTOS > Enable FreeRTOS to collect run time stats and enable CONFIG_FREERTOS_GENERATE_RUN_TIME_STATS.
  • To run the tasklist command, please go to menuconfig > Component Config > FreeRTOS > Enable FreeRTOS trace facility and Enable FreeRTOS stats formatting functions and enable CONFIG_FREERTOS_USE_TRACE_FACILITY.
  • To run AAC decoders, please set CONFIG_FREERTOS_HZ to 1000 Hz.
  • ESP32-S2-kaluga-1 does not support microSD card.
