unionfs error

Has anyone seen this error nvidia driver disabled due to unionfs errors?

You need to run Conty this way for unionfs to work on batocera:

# mkdir /userdata/home
# chown batocera:batocera /userdata/home
# su - batocera -c "HOME=/userdata/home DISPLAY=:0 ./conty.sh ..."

pretty sure it is running that way, although in this case the folder is ~/pro/steam -- I have it working fine on my nvidia laptop, but someone was encountering an issue running the same script.

Why is it trying to run the unionfs in ~/ i.e /userdata/system before it mounts the env variable to ~/pro/steam?

HOME_DIR is only for apps running inside the container, not for the container itself. Unionfs is running outside of the container and creates mount points in your real HOME directory (which is supposed to be writable), which are then passed to the container.
