Ranged AOO is not a thing, unless someone in melee triggers it for you.
Ranged pets are not a thing, and if they were, they wouldn't trigger AOO from any teamwork feats like current pets and thus be.. not great.
Describe the solution you'd like
A ranged pet - using spike as primary attack of course. A manticore? Idk, doesn't matter.
Protagonist/pet qualifying for triggering teamwork feats at ranged - without ya know.. going nuts with it.
More involved/harder I imagine - creating new teamwork feats specifically for ranged units. Like an overwatch type of thing, step within X range triggers AOO. If target changes focus or moves/runs away trigger AOO etc.

What kind of ranged pet and how does it fit to being an Isekai Protagonist?
A manticore does not seem that special nor like it would be the prefered pet of many a reincarnatee to me...
I mean a slime that uses watermagic or is a water elemental kineticist would probably make more sense as a special ranged pet rather than a manticore wouldn't it?
I think there were several Isekai anime recently that played with the slime as a pet concept...
