However, when it comes to testing, I am not sure how to "select a file and dismiss" the FileDialog. The only hack I could think of is to store the FileDialog instances to global variables, remove the instance references on dispose, and manipulate the instances via global variables during the test.
Any better options? I don't mind bypassing the dialog, but I need to continue the UX flow.

As Compose Multiplatform doesn't have file chooser yet, I read others' solution using AWT FileDialog and able to make it works with Compose Desktop:
