Get HW ID for each Disk

Would it be possible to get an ID for each Disk?

I mean the real embedded HW ID for a disk, especially for SD Cards etc.

I want to use that ID to uniquely ID cached thumbnails for images on an SD Card, rather than having to hash each file and use that hash as a name for the thumbnail.

I agree but don't have time for now so unless someone implements it, it'll remain an open issue for an undetermined amount of time. I'll close this one since it's a duplicate.
