remap turning keys to keyboard

When I edit the keybindings to remap the turn keys to keyboard keys it doesn't seem to work, there's something overriding and locking them onto the vive controller. turning with the vive controller has always been slightly jittery and gives me some motion sickness so i've been trying to edit the json files and get them back on the keyboard, because it's a tad smoother but i can't figure it out.

Ideally i find basic mouse and keyboard controls to be the smoothest and feel the best like many other vr mods such as the alien isolation mod have, but I realize that probably entails a complete rework of this mod so i'm just asking if there's a way to map turning to E and Q.
