disabling character categories inside [] classes

reflex::Matcher matcher("abc[\\d]e");

does not match abcde but it matches abc5e.

I understand that reflex matcher recognizes character categories even if they are inside the class.
According to the documentation https://www.genivia.com/doc/reflex/html/#reflex-pattern-class
it should be enabled only with the unicode mode.

1. I did not do anything special, so why does it match \d ?
2. Is it possible to disable the unicode mode?
