Google calendar/Chrome meeting reminder kicks me out of current Google Hangout

Not consistently, but frequently when I get a 10 or 5 minute reminder from Google Calendar (which I usually have open in Chrome) I get kicked out of whatever Google Hangout meeting I'm in currently. The entire video/audio will freeze and I'll have to refresh the page to rejoin the meeting. It's relatively quickly solved but considerably disruptive.

Note that I have the calendar's notifications settings set to "Browser notifications" (in Chrome) although I usually connect to a live Hangout session in Safari, since the quality of a Hangouts call in Chrome is pretty terrible.

Hi, I know this was 2+ years ago but I have a user reporting this same issue currently. Were you ever able to resolve it? TIA
