[UI/UX] Request - Show/Specify file import settings as part of the "Import File" button workflow

From a user experience based perspective:

Today I learned step files can and DO have multiple singular objects. I just never imported them the right way.
The way import settings are currently organized is okay, for globalized settings. If you want these to apply to all imports that you're doing. It would be nice to be able to show the settings regarding the file format in the "Import File" dialog workflow. Either upon selection and clicking "Import", a new dialog opens and asks for settings (using the global settings as a template, or just the last used, which then maybe become global), or if during the file selection dialog upon mere file selection or file type specification these settings appear.
