I've updated the OS on the host PC to Lubuntu 24.04.
I'm trying to reinstall Spoolman...
What am I doing wrong? Or what's missing?

Installation log: https://pastebin.com/06Duw0n6

Spoolman Host (please complete the following information):

  • Installation type: Standalone
  • Installed version: trying to install 0.18.0
  • OS and Distro: Lubuntu 24.04

Spoolman doesn't support Python 3.12 yet which is what you have. I will try add support for it in the next version. In the meantime, try downgrading your python to 3.11 by using pyenv for example.

I've managed to migrate to docker for now, and I think everything is working fine now.
BTW what is the prefered way of running spoolman?

That's up to you, I personally like to use docker since it's more isolated. You never get issues like you just had if you always just go with docker.

Spoolman doesn't work on my fluidd setup even tho I says it does. As usual no support for commen issues with the many machines running fluidd or klipper. No trouble shooting just a guide that only works in the ideal world. I get nothing but errors and actually bricked my machine running this script even though it was copied and pasted with no mistakes. Every time I fix 1 error ut throws up a new 1 and just won't install on my system. Some of us just run business we not python programmers so need better support and clearer guide. Your guide does not account for issues in the script. So many people out ther writing scripts for these machines before they even know how to fix the errors created extremely frustrating as spool manager would help my business a great deal. No support from mobile raker, no support from fluidd or klipper or from machine manufacturer. It's like we going back to the days of reprogramming xbmc every 3 weeks due to poor updates and patches and lack of expert support. Please take this out of the dark corner of armature coding and treat it more like a serious business tool a d start bringing those updates and wider machine support as it doesn't work on the systems u state. Not mine anyway.

I have no obligations to do anything. I've created Spoolman entirely for free for you to use as you wish. The license even clearly says that you take all responsibility for using the software.

Stop this attitude and I might also provide you support for free so you can continue to earn money in your business.

I bricked my machine following ur guide. And there are no alternative install options other then docker install. It's a great idea I'm surprised no1 else has come up with it either ur definitely onto a winner here. Although I appreciate you did this in ur own time for free you have developed a fantastic concept but lacks enough support for basic users to follow. Like I said I'm just a business owner my mistake for thinking this was an official app I thought it would have had some official backing or more support as no1 else has achieved this. Sorry if for offending you but my machine is my business and a tool like this is actually needed. It's a shame u don't feel obligated to push it to mainstream as I would be happy to pay you for it. Its a shame an idea like this is confined to the dark corners of 3d printing and only useful to people who know how to correct code. It's a huge shame. If u need to be paid to improve then charge for it. I sure most people would find this useful and worth paying for I doubt I am only business owner that feels this way.

You must have done something seriously wrong if your entire machine gets bricked by installing Spoolman. Nobody else has reported these severe issues, you're the first one out of tens of thousands of installs. I'm sorry that happened for you, hosting servers isn't necessarily easy (especially relatively new software like Spoolman). There is a reason companies have IT departments who handle these things.

There is a whole section in the README on how to install spoolman as standalone without using docker, so there is actually two completely separate ways of installing it.

I have no interest in making a business out of Spoolman. This is my hobby project that I work on in my spare time. As I said, I do offer support to some extent, but then you need to come with a constructive issue and good tone otherwise I have no interest in helping you. If you like the software you can always donate, so in a sense there you have your product with support.

Please create a new github issue with your actual problems and we can discuss it further.

Keeps saying source url is out of date nothing was done wrong ur guide isnt extensive or complicated its prety straight forward if u follow all steps in there entirety and as for standalone I opted for install without docker. Im not experienced enough to use docker successfully and again it's a shame as a novice user when it comes to programming I have no chance of making this work without some sort of support or alternative script with updated commands. If you can help great I'd be happy to donate but if u can't help or offer any support I will probably hand this to a developer to fix maybe they can come with an way to install for novices incase the script is a failure or even create a full app or slicer patch for easier implementation.
