No sound on Intel D101GGC mobo with ALC861

VSBHDA inits successfully but there is no sound, seems muted. Tried /O1 and /O2 and no change. MPXPLAY also seems to play but there is no sound, HDAplay the same. Tried raising the speakers volume to the max to see if there is even a faint sound but nothing. At that point I installed Windows and the audio driver just to see if it was a fault on the motherboard but no, the sound works perfectly under Win. Any clues?

When was the HDaStat.txt file generated? After VSBHDA has been loaded? I ask because all DACs apparently report "supported PCM rates: 0x0" (meaning NO frequencies are supported).

Also, VSBHDA16 is for 16-bit games/apps only - is the app you're running a 16-bit app?

I am using VSBHDA16 because that's the debug version I found (taken from another issue). I don't have a 32 bit debug version.
I use VSBHDA for 32 bits PM apps.
About the log: sorry, wrong file. Here are the correct HDAStat logs before and after VSBHDA. Still shows 0x0 as supported rates so that may be the issue?

I don't think so. I guess that if widgets return 0 then the format returned by the AFG node is to be used - will have to check that in the specification - and in the VSBHDA source.

What's more interesting are these lines, for all audio output widgets:
amplifier gain/mute: 0x80 ([7] mute, [6:0] gain)
So all DACs are muted. VSBHDA tries in any case to "unmute" the DAC that it is using, so there's definitely something going wrong. Perhaps you'll have to try again with a (more recent) debug version. I'll make one...

Btw, did you try to run HDAPlay with option -v? That may give an idea what's going wrong.

I tried HDAPlay -v and I get noise when I play a wav, but not the actual sound of the wav. Maybe the wavs I am trying are not compatible or something. All wavs make the same "noise" regardless of their file size/duration, but at least a sound is coming from the speakers...

BTW, I will definitely try the more recent debug version, please let me know once you have it.
An interesting side note I will add is that when running "mpxplay -scc 1" I get a click and a "background hiss" starts to be heard in the headphones, then when playing files I get a very faint audio output (barely heard) on the left channel only. So maybe this ALC861 chip has different "addresses" for output control?
