My issue has been resolved, and I've documented my approach and solution in case others encounter a similar problem. Hopefully, this will be of some help:

Problem: Why can't other Mastodon instances find my account after installing the ActivityPub plugin?

Solution:

1. Use BrowserPub · A browser for exploring ActivityPub and the fediverse to search for your webfinger (e.g., [email protected]). If everything is working correctly, you should see something like this:

2. Register on a Mastodon instance and try searching again.

Note: Even if the webfinger returns an error, you can still be followed normally, which I found puzzling. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend relying solely on webfinger as a diagnostic tool…

I have a WordPress site hosted on a VPS (using Docker), which I use like a microblog. I enabled ActivityPub on it, and initially, it worked fine (I could search for it on Mastodon). However, my account ID was the default admin, so I used a plugin to change it to qudange. Ever since then, I haven't been able to find my WordPress site in searches.

The WebFinger for the first WP: [email protected]

I thought that changing the ID might have messed things up, so I started another Docker-WP instance—a fresh WordPress installation with only ActivityPub and Friend plugins installed. But this time, from the start, I couldn't find it on Mastodon either.

The WebFinger for the second WP: [email protected]

Following some hints from GitHub issues and discussions, I checked both WebFinger and browser.pub; they seem normal at first glance. Now I'm completely stuck! If anyone could help me out here—it would mean so much! Thanks in advance!
