Why PNGs?

Hi! Thanks for this great collection. I was just wondering you used PNGs everywhere instead of JPGs? Is there a reason to use PNG for wallpapers?
The size of the wallpapers and repo would be significantly smaller if converted.
Just as an example I converted fog_forest_2.png to jpg and it went from 11.7MB to 343KB.

Most of these recolors were done using Blender, which I think by default exports PNGs. Also, PNGs do have better quality but I'm not sure if it's worth it for the size. I'll look into this more when I have more free time
