How to close the submenu when radio or check are selected

Currently with radio or check items, the submenu remains opened, but I want it to close when the user selects it. How can I do it?

I patched it in my repository just removing this line from the else as this should be the default behavior (VSCode menu works like that). And the alternative (keep submentu open) must have an option to flag it.
