We have a lot of useful data in prometheus (that is exposed via grafana, but also available through other means). it shows up in lots of places, like https://github.com/2i2c-org/meta/issues/1628 or https://github.com/2i2c-org/meta/issues/1736. Spreading mental model knowledge of prometheus around the entire team expands the set of people who can work on this!

I propose a 1hr sync knowledge sharing session. I'll prep some slides, and whoever wants to can participate. It'll be focused on:

  1. Understanding the mental model of what a 'metric' as defined by prometheus is
  2. Difference between prometheus and grafana
  3. How to think through 'i want x, how do I go about seeing what is available?'

The idea is to give people enough context so they can explore themselves, rather than to 'teach prometheus' as such.

Definition of done

  • Interest in such a session is guaged
  • List of attendeed collected
  • Time set
  • Session run
  • Recording published
